Platforms &

technologies

Ever wondered what is behind the scenes and how mobile applications normally set up? See the diagram below to understand the technology stack involved in building native and cross-platform mobile applications.

Languages &

frameworks

Kotlin, Flutter, SWIFT, C++, Ionic and many other solutions are frequently advertised as being the best in terms of price/performance ratio.

Is it the case? Honestly, the programming language or framework is the last thing we discuss with our clients. Language should be a tool to achieve the desired outcome, and only once you get the graphics, user stories, project backlog, financing plan and other things in place, it makes sense to discuss the technology to be used. Finally, your users don't by React Native or Kotlin from you, they buy a product.

We focused on delivering customer-centric products, putting the overall CX/UX as the top priority. Therefore, the technology selection always comes last after the entire project idea and goals already well-defined.

So, if you notice anyone advertising Native or Cross-Platform solutions as a cure-all, make sure they are developer centric which has nothing to do with the overall project success.

SWIFT

ios

Released in 2014, this language came with several features that made it a successor of Oblective-C that was dominated before.

KOTLIN

android

The second official language for Android application development. Basically the evolution of native Android development, comes with some benefits for the developers but with no major differences in terms of price and performance compared to Java development.

Ojective-C

ios

Old native technology almost replaced with SWIFT completely. Let it die in piece and choose SWIFT.

REACT NATIVE/IONIC

ios/android

Cross-platform technologies used to be a crap a few years ago but as time went by they became a powerful tool that fits nearly 80% of projects. Great for prototyping, great for MVPs, great for simple applications. And more than 2 times cheaper than native. But, sometimes, you have to rebuild the entire project with native technologies as it growth, but these are pleasant chores.

JAVA

android

Comes as a native language with all of it's pros and cons. If you're looking to ustilize all of the OS features and maximum and building a cmplex mobile solution it could be a good choice. However, be prepared for the extra costs involved, specifically for the mobile front end part.

FLUTTER

ios/android

Despite being promoted by Google it is still a new technology with all of the cons associated with it. Doesn't save a lot of time now, doesn't provide much better results compared to React Native. It is better to wait for this child to grow up a bit.
